Trainings for a more professional approach

Training is a key element in the approach of samusocialInternational.
One of its first callings is to transmit knowledge and know-how on the assistance to people suffering from exclusion in big cities. Since the problems of the assisted populations are constantly evolving, it is essential to adapt the methods of intervention to properly meet their needs. In order to convey its expertise, samusocialInternational has implemented various trainings in France and abroad.

Based on its experience of the suffering that street children are under, samusocialInternational is convinced that addressing these young people requires a real professional approach.
As there is no global academic training on the matter in France, samusocialInternational and the different contributors who accompanied them locally wanted to initiate the creation of this diploma.
The objective of a training devoted to the clinical and psychopathological approaches of “street children” is to be able to accompany them better at a collective and individual level. Constantly connected with the field, the training involves innovative theoretical contributions as well as basic “general” and theoretical reminders. Students define practices, assess them and, hence, improve their clinical approach, be it educational or therapeutic. This training enables them to become legitimate operators in the long run towards children and teenagers living in the streets of the big cities. It was launched in 2003.

Trainings in aid of different plans of samusocialInternational

The need for specific trainings was identified very early by samusocialInternational. In the countries where it intervenes, the players and medical/social trainings lack the association’s expertise.
The request for training which comes from the field is a precise one and aims at gaining specialized experience which is not limited to a mere academic education. For this reason samusocialInternational tries to implement trainings that are adapted to the different environments and populations. This also enables direct involvement in developing the local teams’ capabilities.

To date, several training models have been carried ou:
  • theoretical trainings for the institutional and non-governmental contributors which are directly mobilized in their daily activity,
  • internal trainings / supervisions for the employees of Samusocial organisations,
  • training courses organised at samusocialdeParis,
  • trainings on the "Samusocial" approach and transfer of knowledge on the tools and methods,
  • other specific trainings: from March 2000 to June 2002, a training on emergency medicine was delivered at the University Yaoundé I, in Cameroon, in partnership with the University Paris XII.
